Are you looking for a job? Is it time for a switch? Visit the Vinton Community Job Fair on Tuesday, March 22 from 4-7pm at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center. Local businesses that are looking to hire will have booths and applications available! Admission is free! Sponsored by Vinton Unlimited & the Community Affairs Committee. Bluebird house class set for tonight

We still have space available for our bluebird house class. Join our naturalists in making your own Eastern Bluebird house and decorating it by wood-burning on the outside. There is a $15 fee for this program.  Pyography kits may be purchased for an additional fee - No need to register just show up. The class begins tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Nature Center.

Vinton Library, Historical Society to host 'Bus-eum' April 5

The Bus-eum will come to Vinton April 5. On Tuesday, April 5, Michael Luick-Thrams and Irving Kellman will be here with their 44 foot Bus-eum. There are photographs, interactive displays, and video all dealing with  “ At Home in the Heartland – how Iowans got to be us.”  Irving pretty much stays inside the bus, but Michael will be available to chat and share stories with anyone.

Wish On A STAR plans fund-raiser for Judy Junge

Judy Junge: Organization arranging fund-raiser for area cancer patient. Judy Junge, of Keystone, was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer in December. The cancer has made it impossible for Judy to continue to work. Her work is doing what she loves—providing therapeutic massage and Reiki to her clients. Judy has chosen alternative cancer treatment. Alternative treatments are not covered by insurance and create a financial burden.

Final VPRD Bingo of the season set for Sunday

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting the final BINGO session of the season this Sunday, March 20th, at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center. We’ll start calling numbers at 5 PM and the event will go until 7 PM. The best part is that it is a completely free event as too! This year we continue to see a wonderful turnout with participants ranging in age from 2 all the way through 100! Anybody that want to come out is more than welcome.

VSMS Jazz Band, Show Choir to perform Thursday

Soon the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School Music students will be able to catch some extra morning zzzs.  They have spent many early mornings before school rehearsing for jazz band, show choir and honor choir.    Thursday evening, beginning at 6:30 pm, the MS Jazz Band will perform in the high school auditorium.  The Middle School Choir and Show Choir “In Living Color” portion of the evening will begin at 7:00.

VAMA plans Holy Week services

The annual Vinton Area Ministerial Association Holy Week services begin next Monday, March 21. Schedule: Monday, March 21: First Christian Church. Tuesday, March 22: Wesley United Methodist. Wednesday, March 23: St. Mary's Catholic Church. Thursday, March 24: Harvest Christian Fellowship. These services take place at 7 a.

Embroidery Club to meet March 19

Come join us this Saturday March 19th here at the store at 9:30 A.M. for Embroidery Club. I will have a free design for you so please bring your USB stick.  Show and Tell has been a high light of our club so bring your projects to share and show.    As we enter into a new season, we hope you will enjoy our new fabrics and sewing and quilting ideas that will give you a lift and inspiration to try.
